He is in the Midst of Them

Matthew 18:18-20 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

I am just returning from San Juan, Puerto Rico with friends. It was a relaxing trip. Four women having fun in the sun. We vacationed together and yet a part. I am developing a thicker skin. This is my prayer, that God will help me develop a skin similar to His. What I envisioned is a skin that can take the burnt pain and yet a mark is not left showing the hurt, and unforgiveness embedded in the heart. I struggled a lot this past week with rejection. It was difficult for me to be in this paradise island. Scantily clad people everywhere and my issues – body, mind and spirit – jumped out to sit in the mud puddle feeling sorry for self. However, if two or three or three shall agree, ask and gather, He is in the midst of them. Thank you, Father, for being in the midst. God helped amid this trip as He helps me every day. He showed me Him.

Prior to leaving my homestead, I booked a massage. Not feeling right in the spirit, I booked it anyway. Only to be informed of the masseuse’s anniversary and subsequently denied the service due to poor planning by the massage therapist slash owner and her anxiousness and priority for her anniversary. Even some locals who have a preference and deference for lighter hued and fairer toned people. I was glad that He was still in the midst. Because in those moments I was being rejected by people and yet accepted by Christ. I did have a very downward spiral  whereby I allowed fear and the enemy in my mind, which in turn caused me to miss my adventure for fun. I was disappointed in myself. I was disappointed in reverting back to old habits. He is in the midst of them gathered in is name. All I had to do was gather the temples He’s given me together – mind, body and spirit. So disappointed!

I now know this scripture refers to the three forms in which He has come and resides within us. When we gather them together, no human being needs to be present. We are present with Him and He with us in mind body and spirit. Having and dwelling within the relationship with Christ. Not once, twice or even three times. However, all-encompassing of every aspect of our being, He is in every circumstance and situation. The feelings that we experience and have are not bad, right or wrong. The challenge is to overcome them with the leading, directing and guidance of Christ. He is in control of it all. He fights every battle on our behalf. Even those circumstances that do not work out how we wish, the message and the excursion – He is in the midst of them.
