Seek Good

Proverbs 11:27 He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks evil.

Life brings forth many questions, action and transformation. When I was a child, no one could have told me my present would be my future. I had big dreams of the life I saw on television as a kid. If I could just get out of my parents’ house and become an adult myself. Oh, what changes I would make to my life. I laugh now, because those sitcoms, thirty-minute television shows made it look so easy. Whatever, problem of life one has can be resolved and solved in thirty minutes time, and less if you count the advertisements that were shown in between. Let us say twenty-five minutes. I laugh today because it was all a fallacy. A child’s dream of something better. A child’s dream that life could be free from heartache, pain and life circumstances that one does not care for. I laugh because now as an adult, I have come to know that that expectation is so not true. It is full of hope. However, the reality of life, is so different from what we see on television. May I offer that the reality shows that are popular today are themselves a lie. A blatant disregard that only the one triune God knows of what our reality will be. Nothing wrong on the surface with this expectation. However, still not a true-life experience journey.

However, even in this new reality or trial and adversity may I offer that we must still earnestly seek good. You see, it is the good that we seek that enables us to continue this life experience journey with hope, faith and belief that a change is coming. It is the seeking of good that enables us to get up each day ready to pray, believing that God hears prayers, and we only must wait and hear His answer for the situation. In Psalms, 27:5 it states” For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.” Seek the good because God is protecting us at all times.in the midst of adversity. Psalm 94:18-19, it states, “ If I say, “My foot slips,
Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up. In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.” God’s mercy we can see holding us up, giving us comfort during adverse times to provide and sooth our soul when we seek good.

May I offer saints when we seek good God’s favor growth happens. Growth in attitude, humility, knowledge, thankfulness, understanding and wisdom. Proverbs 4:23, tells us to guard our hearts. As our heart is softened, we can see God in evildoers. Psalm 25:9 It is due to being taught His ways, Christlike ways and The way, that we are humbled to do what is right. We are not foolish for seeing good in the evildoer, and yet have been crowned with knowledge as it states in Proverbs 14:18. This knowledge is what enables us to extend Godly actions contrary to the situation we are involved. I Corinthians 15:57 reminds us to thank Him for the victory, which we obtained already through the death of Jesus Christ. Based in this understanding and wisdom. Psalm 119:104 reminds us that from our Daddy’s bible, His guiding principles, we gain understanding. This is why we detest every path that leads to lying. Similarly, to our verse Proverb 11:27. Trouble will come to him who seeks evil. So, let us seek His good. Let us seek His good.
