Be Kind

Ephesians 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Father help us see you in everything we encounter. Help us to display and extend your kindness in all situations. May we choose your love as the quality that everyone sees wherever we go. May we be kind amid evil that comes our way. In Jesus name. Amen.

This weekend I had the pleasure to spend time with my family. Something which I always enjoy. A road trip for a wedding close by. What a treat. Rest, relaxation, and family. I was a little trepidation as the company I was to keep was not people that I know and fellowship with often. These forces social situations are difficult for me. I can be an extravert or introvert, depending upon the company around. Over the 20+ years that I’ve known of these people it has always been uncomfortable. However, the love of Christ requests that I extend myself because of my spouses’ relationships. It’s difficult because the energy that exudes has not been a positive experience for me. It was with greatly wide-open eyes I watched as photos were taken without me. I watched as around me conversations were held. Again, feeding the negative narrative. However, with a boldness I shared my feelings and conveyed my emotions to the one closest to me. I shared how this environment does not nourish me. However, I show up because of Christ love and the call to be kind. The call to be kind despite others. To be kind is a characteristic and trait of my Father. To be kind is a call to action to honor God’s created sons and daughters. Not to judge, and yet to honor the love He has for us all, to be kind.

Father thank you for being kind to us all. Thank you for forgiving us for our sins. Thank you, Father, for growing in us. helping us to submit to your expectations of kindness and love. Thank you for being a lover of all your children’s faults, hurst, pain and sorrow. Thank you for giving us a measure of hope and faith and belief for a change. In Jesus name. Amen.
